Our Story - A life changing event in 1974, a car crash....
A lover of life and the beauty of trees, Ann Mayle combined these passions to create the Tree Hugger®, an environmentally better way to preserve a memory.
As a high school student, Ann lost four close friends in a car accident inspiring her to find a way to memorialize their lives in a beautiful, sustainable fashion.
Working with arborists and metallurgists, Ann developed the Tree Hugger®, a memorial plaque that "hugs" a tree and grows as the tree grows. The first Tree Hugger® was dedicated in 2000. Recognized for it's unique and friendly design, people have since dedicated trees to loved ones, celebrated weddings, new homes, births, graduations and friendships. It even caught the eye of Oprah Winfrey and was recommended in Oprah Magazine on the coveted "The O List!"
It's Ann's great honor to become the official supplier of memorial plaques for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.
